Plastic Surgery and Cleft Lip Defect Repair
A New York City resident, Dr. Norman Rowe graduated from New York University, where he obtained a doctor of medicine in plastic surgery. Dr. Normal Rowe currently serves as a plastic surgeon at Rowe Plastic Surgery, where he provides reconstructive and plastic surgery to patients.
Plastic surgery is a procedure that repairs and reconstructs damaged tissues or skin. With a plastic surgery procedure, doctors can restore the function of the damaged skin or tissue so that it functions normally again. In addition to that, it can also fix the appearance of the skin. While many people may mix up plastic surgery with cosmetic surgery, they are entirely different things as cosmetic surgery only aims to improve appearance and make people more beautiful.
One issue that can be repaired with plastic surgery is cleft lip, an abnormality that people can be born with. A cleft lip is an abnormality in which the upper lip has openings or splits. A cleft lip can cause many problems to a child’s development as it can cause trouble with feeding or even speech. A cleft lip surgery aims to correct this congenital disability, make it look normal, and enable a child to use their mouth properly.
